Orbis Author Awarded "Alternative Nobel Prize"
Leonardo Boff

Brazilian Leonardo Boff is honored along with three others for their Commitment to Peace, Reconciliation and Justice, and for their Celebration of the Human Spirit. Along with peace activists from Israel, anti-nuclear activists from England, and the founder of the youth orchestra program in Venezuela (recently profiled on 60 Minutes), Orbis author Leonardo Boff will be honored on the day before the Nobel Prizes by The Right Livelihood Foundation of Sweden. He will share in a prize of krone 2 million (approximately US$187,000) with these other honorees.

Leonardo Boff is author of The Prayer of Saint Francis; Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor; Ecology and Liberation; Holy Trinity, Perfect Community; Ecclesiogenesis; Jesus Christ, Liberator; and, with Clodovis Boff, Introducing Liberation Theology.
