Lives of Service (ISBN 1-57075-308-3, $25.00), a 128-page, coffee-table book takes readers on an inspiring journey of faith and discovery. Through stories and pictures, Maryknoll Fathers, Brothers, Sisters and lay missioners open a window to the unique and culturally diverse peoples of the developing world whom they serve. We see the daily efforts of these modern-day missioners to live Gospel values and seek the face of Christ in their neighbors amidst poverty and immense suffering. Lives of Service presents simple tales of communion and hope for the 21st century, and demonstrates how people from different backgrounds have discovered a common humanity and have forged enduring friendships.

Lives of Service: Stories of Maryknoll was created in collaboration with photojournalist, Jim Daniels, of Portland, Maine. Over a four-year period, Daniels traveled to remote Maryknoll mission sites chronicling the lives of missioners and the people they serve. A professional photographer for 20 years, he has worked for the Associated Press, the Portland Press Herald and the Providence Journal. Daniels' work has appeared in such publications as The National Geographic, The New York Times, People and Maryknoll magazine.
"For a photojournalist, finding Maryknoll was something like an archaeologist discovering the Lost City of the Incas," said Daniels. "An abundance of remarkable stories lay about me waiting to be uncovered. Here were hundreds of men and women, united by their faith and commitment, serving humanity in remote corners of the world, and I had the good fortune to be asked to gather a few of these stories."
