Submission Guidelines for Manuscripts
In your cover letter, please give a brief description of your proposed book, including the approximate length, the work's content and purpose, and estimated completion date. We would also like to know:
  • why you wrote, or plan to write, your book, e.g., its timeliness, unique perspective, special marketing possibilities, the gap it fills, etc.
  • the audience you hope to reach, e.g., popular, professional, academic, clergy, laity, study groups, etc.
  • how your book will fit into Orbis's program which addresses the global dimensions of Christianity, with special stress on the experience and perspective of the poor. Orbis publishes in such areas as Third World and contextual theologies, interreligious dialogue, spirituality, and contemporary social concerns
  • why you think Orbis would be the best publisher for your book
  • your qualifications for writing your book
  • if there are competing books in the same field and, if so, how your book will differ from these
Please also include a copy of the table of contents and a sample chapter or two, if available. (Please send copies only; we cannot return material submitted.)
