Winging It:
Meditations of a Young Adult

Therese Johnson Borchard

A thirty-something frames her contemporary musings on life, love and the laundry with a quote from sages from Seinfeld to Seuss, and a closing passage from Scripture.

Excerpt from Winging It by Therese Johnson Borchard
I married my husband for better or worse but not for lunch - Leigh Carleton

Cokie and Steve Roberts write in their book From This Day Forward, "If you take the words seriously, there’s no going back. There’s only the future, unlimited and unknowable, and the promise to make the journey together."
I believe that. And that’s why my husband and I always have to work things out, no matter how difficult.
Sometimes I wish marriage was like a work contract: you take it a couple of years at a time. You assess each step along the way. If both parties don't want to continue, neither party is obligated to stay on board. Yet, it is the finality, the seriousness of the marriage commitment that makes it a sacrament . . . .
Difficult situations build character, they say, which is probably why many couples who stay together for a long haul are full of wisdom, insight, compassion, and love. I hope to be one of those.

Above all, clothe yourselves with love,
which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
- Colossians 3:14
