2008 Maryknoll Student Essay Contest: "You Will Be My Witnesses"
Theme: Jesus told his apostles, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and then you will be my witnesses" (Acts 1:8). Today Jesus calls us to be his witnesses.
Assignment: Describe how you or someone you know has been a witness for Christ.
Rules: Students in grades 6–8 (Division I) and grades 9–12 (Division II) qualify. Entries must be written in English. Only one entry per student. Please specify the division to which the entry is being submitted. Children of Maryknoll employees, Associates and Affiliates are not eligible.
Length: 500-750 words.
Prizes:
1st Prize $1,000 (Division I – grades 6-8) and
$1,000 (Division II – grades 9-12)
2nd Prize $300 for each division
3rd Prize $150 for each division
Deadline: Entries must be postmarked by Monday, December 1, 2008. Contest winners will be notified by mid-February 2009. All entries become the property of Maryknoll and cannot be returned
